The Bible says, “They will see your zeal for the people and be ashamed” (Isaiah 26:11). This verse is a profound reminder of how God can use our passion for others to glorify Him and silence the wicked. One person who embodied this truth was Dr. Freeman, an OB-GYN from the United States who made an incredible sacrifice for the people of Cameroon.
A Mission of Love and Zeal
Dr. Freeman left behind a successful medical career in America to deliver babies in Cameroon, a nation where maternal and infant mortality rates were devastatingly high at the time. His decision was driven by a fiery zeal for God and a love for His people. While many sought comfort and stability, Dr. Freeman sought the will of God and the opportunity to save lives.
The Day My Life Began
Dr. Freeman was the doctor who delivered me, and I am alive today because of him. At a time when so many babies in Cameroon were dying at birth due to a lack of proper medical care, he was there. His skill, dedication, and unwavering passion for serving others ensured that I was born alive and healthy. I am forever grateful for his role in my life and the countless lives he touched.
A Legacy of Zeal and Inspiration
Now 96 years old, Dr. Freeman continues to inspire others. I recently spoke with his daughter, Annette, who shared how everything her father did was marked by zeal. Whether delivering babies, mentoring young doctors, or serving in the mission field, his passion never wavered. His legacy encourages me to give my all to God’s people, even when it means sacrificing comfort for calling.
From Doctor to Advocate: My Journey
Dr. Freeman’s story mirrors my own journey in many ways. After years as a full-time physician, I am now coordinating the 100 Families initiative, helping families move from crisis to stability. His life reminds me that true zeal is not born of ambition but of a heart aligned with God’s purposes. Like Dr. Freeman, I am determined to serve wholeheartedly, trusting that God will use my passion to bring hope and healing.
