What the Enemy Meant for Harm, God Used for My Strength

Looking back, I can see how God used every trial to shape me into who I am today. As a child, I was strong-willed, bold, and always stood for the truth—no matter the cost. That same unwavering conviction carried me through some of the most challenging seasons of my life.

Leaving Comfort for Purpose

I loved working at the hospital. It provided financial security, stability, and the opportunity to practice medicine at a high level. But deep in my heart, I knew I was called to do more. My passion for serving the underserved could not be fully realized within the constraints of the hospital system. Despite the financial sacrifice, I made the difficult decision to resign and open my own clinic—one dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care for those who needed it most.

The Battle Begins

What I didn’t anticipate was the intense opposition that would follow. Within ten years, I faced ten lawsuits, all rooted in the same false accusation—that I was exploiting my community. Every case was dismissed, yet each one drained my energy, finances, and emotional strength.

The enemy intended to use these battles to break me, to force me into submission, and to make me question my calling. But instead of destroying me, these trials refined me. The adversity brought out the lion within me—I became a fighter.

Transformed Through Fire

God was preparing me for something greater. Those battles strengthened my resolve and sharpened my ability to advocate—not just for myself but for others facing injustice. What I once saw as setbacks were, in reality, stepping stones to a larger mission.

Now, as the Medical Director of the 100 Families Initiative, I am not only helping families move from crisis to stability but also challenging the systemic injustices that disproportionately impact minority physicians and the underserved. The struggles I endured equipped me to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

The Power of Redemption

If I had stayed in my comfort zone, I would have never become the person I am today. The trials that were meant to destroy me only fueled my purpose. Today, I stand stronger, bolder, and more determined than ever. My journey is a testament to the truth that what the enemy meant for harm, God used for good (Genesis 50:20).

No matter what challenges you face, trust that God is using them to prepare you for your next chapter.
