When God Calls You to Lead — and They Try to Take It Away

When God Calls You to Lead — and They Try to Take It Away By Dr. Eleanore Kue, MD When the Calling Is Bigger Than the Title When God calls you to build something, not everyone will see what you see. Some will support you, others will question you, and a few may try to redirect your path. But calling doesn’t come from people — it comes from God. And when the assignment is divine, you can’t hand it over just because others don’t understand it. The Weight of Leadership as a Black Woman of Faith As a Black woman leading in spaces where few look like me, I’ve learned that excellence doesn’t always erase bias. Sometimes, the very success God brings becomes a source of discomfort for others. It’s painful when your vision is minimized or your voice is overlooked, not because of a lack of skill or fruit, but because of unspoken prejudice. Yet even then, God whispers, “Stand firm. I called you — not them.” The Cornerstone Rejected, Yet Chosen “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” — Psalm 118:22 That scripture reminds me that rejection can be redirection. God often uses the very moments that hurt to reveal His sovereignty. When people try to move you aside, He reminds you that no one can replace the hand He placed on your life. Fruit Speaks Louder Than Fear I’ve learned that outcomes reveal obedience. When families move from crisis to stability, when churches unite to serve the poor, when lives are transformed — those are not human achievements; they’re the fingerprints of God. You don’t need to defend yourself when the fruit speaks. You just need to stay faithful. To Every Black Woman Called to Lead To my sisters who’ve been told they’re too bold, too strong, or too confident — know this: your authority is not arrogance; it’s anointing. You don’t have to shrink to make others comfortable. God designed you to lead with both compassion and courage. When you stand in obedience, you give others permission to do the same. Choosing Forgiveness, Walking in Faith I choose forgiveness. I choose to walk in grace. Not because the pain wasn’t real, but because bitterness would only hinder the work God has placed before me. The mission is greater than the offense. And when the focus stays on the One who called you, He’ll handle every battle you don’t have to fight. Strengthened for the Mission Ahead This season has strengthened my faith and sharpened my vision for the 100 Families Initiative — a movement rooted in faith, hope, and community transformation. Every obstacle has become an altar where I’ve seen God’s faithfulness. And I believe He’s not just rebuilding families — He’s also raising up leaders who will not bow to fear, bias, or injustice. Call to Action: If you believe in building communities where faith and justice meet, join us through the 100 Families Initiative — where we walk alongside families to restore hope, dignity, and stability. Is the Pain Ever Going Away? Finding Purpose in the Pain of Injustice

Is the Pain Ever Going Away? Finding Purpose in the Pain of Injustice By Eleanore Kue, MD Six Years Later, and the Pain Still Lingers It’s been almost six years since I lost everything I worked so hard for. A career built with sacrifice, dedication, and love—swept away by injustice. And still today, the pain hasn’t left me. I find myself wondering, Will this pain ever go away? When I share my story, I often walk away holding back tears. At random moments, grief creeps in like a shadow, and my heart aches all over again. It’s not just the loss that hurts—it’s the way it happened. Pain as a Reminder That Injustice Took Place Some pain stays because it should stay. Not to torment us—but to remind us. Injustice leaves a scar. And that scar is a sign that something wrong happened, something that should never be forgotten. It pushes me to keep fighting—not just for myself, but for others who have experienced the same kind of silent suffering. I believe that some pain is a call to action. It becomes fuel for advocacy, for truth, for justice. God’s Purpose Still Prevails Even in the midst of pain, I see God’s hand at work. What I’m doing now—serving families in crisis, bringing hope to the brokenhearted, speaking truth in love—is far greater than what I had planned for myself. As painful as it is, I believe with all my heart that God allowed it for a greater good. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” — Genesis 50:20 (NIV) That verse is not just a promise—it’s the foundation I stand on. What was meant for evil, God is using for good. Pain Can Shape Us, But It Doesn’t Have to Stop Us I never want pain to become an excuse for bitterness or inaction. I want it to sharpen me, not silence me. God has a future for me—and for you. He doesn’t waste suffering. As long as I am still here, I will keep fighting for justice, standing for truth, and trusting that this battle belongs to the Lord. So if you’re asking the same question—Will the pain ever go away?—know this: it may never disappear entirely, but it can become a holy reminder that God is still writing your story. Finding Hope When the Pain Remains Maybe your loss is fresh. Maybe, like me, years have passed and the ache still lingers. Either way, don’t let the pain paralyze you. Let it lead you closer to the heart of God. Keep walking. Keep hoping. Keep trusting. Because He will use it all—every tear, every scar, every battle—for His glory. Transforming Lives Through Coaching: Dr. Eleanore Kue’s Impact on the 100 Families Initiative

Transforming Lives Through Coaching: Dr. Eleanore Kue’s Impact on the 100 Families Initiative By Dr. Eleanore Kue Why Coaching Matters Coaching has been a transformative force in my life and ministry. It’s not just about guidance or accountability; it’s about empowering others to unlock their God-given potential. As I reflect on the success of the 100 Families initiative, I see coaching as a cornerstone of our impact. Early in my ministry, I came across a statistic that struck a chord: ministers with a coach tend to stay longer in ministry. This insight changed my approach to leadership and service. It led me to reach out to my district office, where I was connected with Mary Selzer, a coach who would profoundly shape my life. My Personal Journey with Coaching When I first met Mary, I didn’t know the depth of transformation her coaching would bring. We began with in-person sessions, which soon transitioned to regular phone calls. Week by week, Mary guided me with wisdom and grace, helping me navigate challenges and build confidence. She didn’t do the work for me, but she helped me recognize my strengths and align them with God’s purpose for my life. Even today, Mary remains my coach, and as my assignments have grown more diverse, I’ve added other coaches to my life—each bringing unique insights to specific areas of ministry, leadership, and advocacy. Coaching in the 100 Families Initiative As the Coordinator of the 100 Families initiative and Medical Director of His Healing Hands Clinic, I’ve found myself stepping into the role of a coach for the families we serve. Coaching is at the heart of what we do. It’s about coming alongside families in crisis, guiding them as they take ownership of their journey, and helping them discover their God-given potential. I strive to be a kind and steady voice, leading families not by doing the work for them, but by showing them how to move forward with courage and faith. This approach mirrors what Mary did for me: empowering people to embrace their unique strengths and trust God’s plan for their lives. The Impact of Coaching on Families Since the launch of the 100 Families initiative, we’ve witnessed incredible transformations. Families like LO, a mother of eight moving toward stability with the help of our program, demonstrate the power of holistic support combined with coaching. Through partnerships with organizations like East Side Community Action, local churches, and Child and Families Charity, we help families access resources, build life skills, and grow spiritually. Coaching amplifies these efforts by fostering trust, resilience, and hope. Why Coaching is Essential for Success The success of 100 Families goes beyond services and resources—it’s rooted in relationships. Coaching builds those relationships by encouraging trust, accountability, and collaboration. In my role, I’ve seen how coaching helps families not only overcome immediate challenges but also lay the foundation for long-term stability and purpose. This aligns with the mission of 100 Families: to address the root causes of poverty and empower families to thrive. Join Us in Transforming Lives Coaching has changed my life, and now I use it as a tool to help change the lives of others. If you’re inspired by the work we’re doing at United Against Poverty through the 100 Families initiative, I invite you to learn more and get involved. Forgiveness After Betrayal: Finding Peace and Trusting God’s Justice

Forgiveness After Betrayal: Finding Peace and Trusting God’s Justice Have you ever been betrayed by those you tried to help? I have. I left everything behind to serve the poor, following a deep calling from God. But instead of gratitude, I faced false accusations, betrayal, and hurt so deep I thought it might break me. Yet, through it all, I learned the incredible power of forgiveness. Not just for them—but for me. In this blog, I’ll share my journey from betrayal to forgiveness, and how trusting God’s justice brought me peace. I hope my story encourages you to release bitterness and embrace the freedom God has for you. Betrayed While Serving: When Doing Good Leads to Pain When I chose to leave my career as a physician and open a clinic in an underserved community, I believed that doing good would bear good fruit. I cared for the poor, the addicted, the mentally ill—people society often overlooks. But then came the betrayal. False accusations. Misunderstandings. Those I had sacrificed for turned against me. I cried out to God like David in Psalm 55:12-14 (NIV): “If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it… But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship…” Betrayal by those close to you hits harder than any outside attack. The Heavy Weight of Unforgiveness At first, I wanted justice my way. I wanted to defend myself, to prove my innocence, to make my accusers see the pain they caused. But holding onto bitterness was like carrying a heavy chain. Every day I replayed the offense, the injustice, the wounds. Yet God gently reminded me that unforgiveness doesn’t punish my accusers—it punishes me. Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV) spoke to my heart: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger… Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Forgiveness wasn’t about excusing their actions. It was about releasing myself from the prison of resentment. Forgiveness as an Act of Trust Forgiving my accusers didn’t happen overnight. I wrestled. I wept. But I realized forgiveness is an act of trust in God’s justice. Romans 12:19 (NIV) reminds us: “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” When I forgave, I placed the situation in God’s hands. I trusted that He sees what no one else sees and that His justice is perfect. Forgiveness wasn’t letting them off the hook—it was putting them on God’s hook and freeing myself. God’s Redemption: Turning Betrayal into Purpose In time, God began to heal my heart. He took the betrayal meant to destroy me and used it to deepen my compassion for others who have been hurt. Today, I still serve the poor, lead the 100 Families Initiative, and walk alongside families in crisis. But I do it from a place of freedom and peace, knowing God can redeem even the darkest moments. Genesis 50:20 (NIV) says it best: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” If I had held onto unforgiveness, I would’ve missed out on seeing God’s redemption unfold. The Gift of Forgiveness: Freedom for You Friend, if you’ve been betrayed, falsely accused, or hurt deeply, know that forgiveness is not a feeling—it’s a choice. It’s a decision to trust God with the outcome. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting. It doesn’t mean the pain never happened. It means choosing to let go and let God. Colossians 3:13 (NIV) encourages us: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance… Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” As I forgave, I found peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). I discovered that forgiveness is the gateway to healing and freedom. I pray you will, too. Final Thoughts: Trust God with Your Pain Betrayal is real. The wounds cut deep. But God’s healing runs deeper. If you’re holding onto unforgiveness today, I encourage you to release it. Not for them—but for you. Trust that God sees, God knows, and God will use it for His glory. What the Enemy Meant for Harm, God Used for My Strength

Looking back, I can see how God used every trial to shape me into who I am today. As a child, I was strong-willed, bold, and always stood for the truth—no matter the cost. That same unwavering conviction carried me through some of the most challenging seasons of my life. Leaving Comfort for Purpose I loved working at the hospital. It provided financial security, stability, and the opportunity to practice medicine at a high level. But deep in my heart, I knew I was called to do more. My passion for serving the underserved could not be fully realized within the constraints of the hospital system. Despite the financial sacrifice, I made the difficult decision to resign and open my own clinic—one dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care for those who needed it most. The Battle Begins What I didn’t anticipate was the intense opposition that would follow. Within ten years, I faced ten lawsuits, all rooted in the same false accusation—that I was exploiting my community. Every case was dismissed, yet each one drained my energy, finances, and emotional strength. The enemy intended to use these battles to break me, to force me into submission, and to make me question my calling. But instead of destroying me, these trials refined me. The adversity brought out the lion within me—I became a fighter. Transformed Through Fire God was preparing me for something greater. Those battles strengthened my resolve and sharpened my ability to advocate—not just for myself but for others facing injustice. What I once saw as setbacks were, in reality, stepping stones to a larger mission. Now, as the Medical Director of the 100 Families Initiative, I am not only helping families move from crisis to stability but also challenging the systemic injustices that disproportionately impact minority physicians and the underserved. The struggles I endured equipped me to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. The Power of Redemption If I had stayed in my comfort zone, I would have never become the person I am today. The trials that were meant to destroy me only fueled my purpose. Today, I stand stronger, bolder, and more determined than ever. My journey is a testament to the truth that what the enemy meant for harm, God used for good (Genesis 50:20). No matter what challenges you face, trust that God is using them to prepare you for your next chapter. View more Connect with Dr. Eleanore Kue on her social media profiles: Facebook LinkedIn
What Makes the 100 Families Initiative a Success?

The 100 Families Initiative is more than a program—it’s a mission to bring hope and stability to families in crisis. Its success stems from the collaborative efforts of organizations, the dedication of family advocates, the power of communication, and the guiding principles of faith and compassion. Community Collaboration: A Foundation for Change One of the key reasons 100 Families thrives is the willingness of organizations in our community to come together. Each partner sets aside individual agendas to focus on what matters most: supporting families in need. Whether it’s providing housing assistance, mental health support, or financial literacy, these community-driven partnerships ensure that no family is left behind. This spirit of teamwork reflects the power of unity, where collective impact transforms lives. The Role of Communication in Success Communication is at the heart of the initiative’s success. Open and consistent communication between community organizations and family advocates ensures that resources are allocated efficiently, and families receive the support they need. Through regular updates, meetings, and progress reports, we bridge the gap between services and build a seamless support network. Strong communication also fosters trust between families and advocates, allowing them to work together toward achieving their goals. It ensures that everyone is on the same page, aligned in their mission to help families overcome crises. Family Advocates: The Heart of the Initiative Another vital element of the initiative’s success is the role of our dedicated family advocates. These incredible individuals are on the front lines, meeting families in crisis and guiding them step by step toward stability. They: Conduct needs assessments to understand the family’s unique challenges. Help families set realistic and achievable goals. Communicate with organizations to align services with family needs. Provide unwavering support, working tirelessly until those goals are met. It’s not just about offering a helping hand—it’s about empowering families to take control of their future. Advocates walk alongside these families, demonstrating what it means to truly care. Faith in Action: Following the Example of Christ At the core of 100 Families is a commitment to faith and discipleship. As 1 Corinthians 11:1 says, “Follow me as I follow the example of Christ.” This guiding principle shapes every interaction, inspiring us to serve others with love, humility, and grace. The initiative doesn’t just address the physical and emotional needs of families—it also nurtures their spiritual growth, connecting them with churches and opportunities for discipleship. Why It Matters The 100 Families Initiative is successful because it’s built on the belief that no family should face a crisis alone. Through the collaboration of community organizations, the dedication of family advocates, the power of communication, and the principles of faith, we are breaking the cycle of poverty and building a brighter future for families. Advocacy in Medicine: From Patients to Physicians

Advocacy in Medicine: From Patients to Physicians By Eleanore Kue, MD A Lifetime of Advocacy in Medicine For as long as I can remember, I have been a physician and an advocate. I started my career in the hospital, dedicated to providing the best care possible. However, I soon realized that I was limited in my ability to advocate for my patients within the hospital system. The constraints of bureaucracy and institutional policies often stood in the way of providing individualized, compassionate care. Determined to make a difference, I took a bold step—I left the hospital setting and opened my own independent clinic. For 15 years, I provided medical care to the underserved, ensuring that those who needed help the most received the quality treatment they deserved. It was not just about medicine; it was about standing in the gap for my patients, fighting for them to receive adequate healthcare, and ensuring they were not overlooked by the system. A Shift in Advocacy: From Patients to Physicians Then, in 2019, everything changed. Ten years into my mission, I faced an unexpected shift in my advocacy. While I had spent years championing the needs of my patients, I suddenly found myself advocating for my colleagues—particularly foreign-born physicians like myself. Statistics paint a clear and troubling picture: foreign-born physicians face significantly higher rates of prosecution compared to their U.S.-born counterparts. This systemic bias does more than just harm individual careers; it undermines the ability of dedicated physicians to provide care to vulnerable communities. When a physician is unjustly targeted, it is not just their livelihood that suffers—patients lose access to quality medical care, creating a ripple effect that deepens healthcare disparities. The Challenge of Systemic Change Advocating for my colleagues has proven to be an immense challenge. The biases and systemic injustices against foreign-born physicians are deeply entrenched within the medical community. Changing these attitudes requires patience, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Despite the difficulties, I firmly believe that God has been preparing me for this assignment. Advocacy is not just about fighting a battle—it is about creating lasting change. It is about ensuring that both physicians and patients receive the respect and fairness they deserve. Moving Forward: A Call for Justice As I continue this journey, I invite others to join me in shedding light on the injustices within the medical system. Together, we can work toward a future where healthcare professionals are treated equitably, and patients receive the compassionate care they need. The fight is long, but with perseverance and faith, change is possible. View more Connect with Dr. Eleanore Kue on her social media profiles: Facebook LinkedIn
Watchman on the Wall: The Power of Prayer Warriors Standing in the Gap for Families, Communities, and Nations

In a world filled with uncertainty, chaos, and spiritual battles, prayer warriors serve as watchmen on the wall, standing guard in intercession for their families, communities, and nations. These dedicated believers do not just pray occasionally; they are committed to fervent, consistent, and strategic prayer, seeking divine intervention in every aspect of life. The Role of a Watchman In biblical times, watchmen were positioned on city walls to observe and warn against approaching danger. Similarly, prayer warriors today stand spiritually alert, discerning threats, needs, and divine direction through prayer. They cry out to God on behalf of the broken, the lost, and the oppressed, believing in His power to transform lives. Why Prayer Warriors Are Needed Today The challenges in society—poverty, injustice, sickness, and spiritual decline—require intercessors who will not be silent. Just as Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem with faith and persistence, prayer warriors are called to rebuild the spiritual walls of families and communities. They do this by: Praying for the vulnerable—widows, orphans, and struggling families. Interceding for healing—physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration. Declaring victory over oppression, addiction, and systemic injustices. Standing in faith for revival and transformation. Becoming a Prayer Warrior Becoming a watchman on the wall requires dedication, consistency, and faith. Whether you wake up at dawn to intercede or fast and pray for breakthrough, your prayers make a difference. Eleanore and other prayer warriors are rising up, answering the call to stand in the gap for the weak, the lost, and the hurting. Will you join the watch? Dr. Eleanore Kue: A Life of Prayer and Advocacy Through 100 Families

The Power of Prayer in My Walk with Christ Prayer has always been foundational in my journey with Christ. From the moment I gave my life to Him, I was deeply influenced by my pastor, who modeled the life of a prayer warrior. As a church, we witnessed God’s incredible answers to prayer through weekly testimonies of salvation, healing, and deliverance. These experiences confirmed that prayer is powerful and transformative, shaping lives in ways that only God can. Becoming a 100 Families Coordinator As the Coordinator and Advocate for the 100 Families Initiative, my faith and commitment to prayer have grown even deeper. This role allows me to serve families in crisis, witnessing firsthand God’s work in their lives. Each interaction reminds me of His love and provision, even in the most challenging situations. A Testimony of Divine Intervention One of the most remarkable experiences in my role involved a mother of eight children. Forced to move into a shelter due to unsafe conditions, her greatest need was housing. In Lansing, where housing is scarce, especially for large families, the odds were against us. This mother was open to prayer, and together, we sought God’s intervention. Just a week later, to my surprise and delight, a four-bedroom house became available. She and her children moved in shortly after. This was a clear and swift answer to prayer, demonstrating that God can open doors where none seem possible. Interceding for Families in Crisis Stories like this keep me on my knees in prayer. My role with the 100 Families Initiative involves more than advocacy—it’s about interceding for the families I am honored to serve. Each need, whether for housing, employment, or emotional support, is an opportunity to trust God for His provision and guidance. Looking Ahead to 2025 with Hope and Expectation As we step into 2025, I am excited and expectant. God’s faithfulness has been evident in every family we’ve served, and I trust Him to continue working miracles. My mission is clear: to keep my eyes on Jesus, intercede for those in need, and witness His transformative power in action. Join the Mission and Learn More If you’re inspired by this story, I encourage you to learn more about the 100 Families Initiative. Visit unitedagainstpovertymi.org to see how you can get involved.
